Located on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat caters to those seeking to further their spiritual development through the teachings of its founder, Swami Vishnudevananda. Since 1968, Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat has focused on teaching traditional yogic practice on several tracks, including those for not only leisure travelers looking for relaxation but also individuals in search of a more rigorous program to become yoga teachers.

The ashram’s month-long Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training course was specifically created to provide basic certification in the teaching of yoga. For those who already teach yoga professionally and are interested in continuing education in the discipline, there is the Advanced Yoga Teacher Training Course. This is another month-long program that will deepen students’ knowledge and prepare them for certification as a Master of Yoga and an advanced RYT-500 certificate issued by Yoga Alliance.

This dedication to teaching new generations of yoga students and instructors is rooted in the tradition of founder Swami Vishnudevananda, who taught extensively through classes and his now-classic book, The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga. He based his teachings on those of his teacher, Swami Sivananda, who in turn incorporated the teachings of the great eighth-century master Adi Shankaracharya into his work.
